Nigel graduated from the Auckland School of Physiotherapy in 1989.  Since then he has worked in a number of musculoskeletal physiotherapy clinics in New Zealand and abroad.  On returning from the UK in 1997 Nigel returned to full time study at Otago University and graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy. He started his own practice in 2000 and founded Prohab Physio & Rehabilitation in 2001. Following a long course of part-time study at Massey University, Nigel graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Ergonomics in 2011.  He has broad ranging interests and experience in musculoskeletal health, and more recently a strong interest in human factors (ergonomics) within the changing world of healthcare. A former NZ hockey Blackstick (1990,1992), Nigel still enjoys competitive club level hockey (Auckland University Passmasters), trail running (next event loaded – the first 2018 Auckland Xterra trail run at Shakespear Regional Park – Sunday 27th May – 1hour & 9 mins!!) and spending time with his young family. Nigel is currently a member of:

  • Human Factors & Ergonomics New Zealand (HFESNZ Conference Committee 2014)
  • Physiotherapy New Zealand
  • NZ Manipulative Physiotherapists Association

Special interests:

  • Spinal problems – spinal pain, neck pain, headaches – postgraduate qualification in manipulative physiotherapy
  • Work related injuries – postgraduate qualification in human factors/ergonomics – consults to industry
  • Sports injuries – rehab of the running athlete
